Unread

Sometimes it is the idea of the book that I fall in love with.  Some books I may never read but still they stir my imagination and provoke my dreams.

  1. I Love the Idea of Books more than any book I have ever read. The overwhelming thought of what they offer to child or adult. Entry into the mind of another; what that Other imagines or knows for a fact. And I love the Birth of the physical book; the Publishing companies, those who decide to have it printed using what size font on what kind of paper with what kind and color of bookcover. Before I read a book I read about the Author..exactly whose Mind am I going into and who am I allowing into my mind! And all prologues are always read before any Chapter One steps into my Mind. A book is nothing to take lightly. It can raise your spirits, confirm your convictions, lead you to tears, open you to a new career, lead to your being an asset to friends and planet, or lead to the destruction of friends and planet.
A book can be bought on a whim or after a long, grueling search for it.
A dictionary nearby can make for a better 'read', as can a pencil and notebook for drawing the person or scenes you are reading about. Snow, beach, tall person, black hair, blue eyes, green eyes, in a plane, on a boat.
The idea of books, the birthing of a book, the care and feeding of a book, the introduction of it to society, the acceptance or rejection, its home on library shelves or in your bedroom..
They are like a species unto themselves...neither 2 legged or 4, white, black, brown, red. Some have ancestors that can be found in series; most do not.
A World of Ideas about a Book before a Cover is ever opened; a page turned.
